HOW VALUABLE IS YOUR HEALTH AS AN ENTREPRENEUR?

Let’s be honest, health care, in general, is expensive. And I’m not talking about health care in reference to insurance. I’m talking about the cost of caring for your health so you can ensure your ability to grow your business and your earning potential.

Your health is one of the most valuable elements of being.

We so often invest our money into things. Cars, TVs, jewelry, purses, clothing, shoes, and so many other things. It is normal to want nice things. But sometimes these things replace the investment we would spend on our health.

I’ve said it once, and I will say it again, you only get this one body. If we don’t invest in keeping it healthy, we instead become required to invest in keeping it operating. And operating does not equate to healthy.

Let’s talk about insurance for a minute because the majority of insurance companies cover preventative care by 100%. This means they even recognize that investing in prevention leads to better cost savings.

What does this mean for you?

Investing in your health daily leads you to greater savings long term. It allows you to enjoy life completely, including all of the “things”. But as an entrepreneur what happens to your business when health issues take you down? By taking care of yourself now, you protect your business and earning potential in the future.

Health investments look different for everyone. But here are a couple simple ways to start:

Routinely visit a Chiropractor.

Chiropractic care comes with many benefits beyond relief from neck and pain discomfort. Visiting a Chiropractor is safe and allows for a natural way to help the body heal itself! This includes boosting your immunity, improving digestion, increasing your energy, and allowing for oxygen to flow and regenerate your organs. In addition, chiropractic care can be used in pregnancy to help reduces those common pregnancy alignments.

Do a Wellness Exam.

First, find a provider that has a whole person, holistic approach, because if something does come up, they are going to address it by identifying the problem and healing from the inside out. This provider should also spend at last an hour with you because this is not just about checking boxes. They should address diet, habits, concerns or symptoms, they may recommend genetic screening, blood, saliva or stool testing to further investigate. A Functional or Naturopathic Doctor may be a great option for you!

Check your Mental Health.

Mental health is such an important element in every stage of our lives. We are human, and experience an array of emotions. Mental health contributes to your thinking, mood, outlook, and desires which impacts your behavior. A healthy mind will bring healthy choices. Your mental health has a direct impact on your physical health; therefore it is just as important to seek counseling and support, as it is to get adjustments and exams.

Get Physical.

By now we all know that physical activity is shown to help us live longer. But did you know there is actually way more benefits to getting active? First, let me clarify, physical activity is what you define it. This can include the 30-minute walk that gets your heart pumping to the hardcore crossfit workout. DO NOT make getting physical a daunting task. When you can enjoy getting physical, you will reap the benefits of improving your mood, combating health conditions, boost energy and promote better sleep, and help with weight control.

Nutrients.

What you put in your body, is what your body becomes. Not literally, of course. But rather we see a prevalence of autoimmune diseases, digestive disorders, cancer, symptomatic problems caused by food allergies, and so much more. When you fuel your body with a whole foods based diet you meet its nutrient needs to protect your whole body from such diseases and illness. In addition, you benefit from more energy, reduced inflammation, increased immunity, and overall wellness as your body operates as it was designed to. An easy way to really learn about eating a whole foods based diet can include jumping into a series of Whole30.

Vitamins/Supplements.

Taking vitamins and supplements is not a substitute for a healthy diet and lifestyle. However, research has shown that living in certain areas, genetic mutations and poor diet can lead to a deficiency of your body receiving the full nutrient from its natural source. For example, research has found that genetic variants are linked to a deficiency of receiving vitamin d because of how the body is then forced to process it. Being low in vitamin d can bring serious health concerns including cancer. So, circling back, when you have a provider that looks at the whole person they are addressing your need for vitamin and supplement intake based on what your body may be deficient in due to various health factors.

So remember, your body is going to be around much longer than that expensive handbag. Invest in your business and invest in yourself by investing in your health.
